Vegetation Cover Dynamics in Semi-Steppe Rangelands of Ardabil Province, Iran
Authors
Abstract:
Rangeland vegetation dynamics can be affected by various natural and unnatural factors over time. The purpose of this study was to investigate the dynamics of vegetation under the climatic conditions and soil properties. Accordingly, data collection for evaluating vegetation dynamics in rangeland ecosystems of Ardabil province was conducted at three research sites including Moqan winter rangeland, and Nour and Aqdagh Khalkhal summer rangelands in 2009 followed for four years. Vegetation variables were measured using transects and sampling plots. Meanwhile, at the location of each plot, soil moisture was measured at two or three depths of 0-15, 15-30 and 30-45 cm using a Time-Domain Reflectometer (TDR). According to the results, in the Nour site, the changes recorded for shrubs such as Onobrychis cornuta L. and forbs were significant (P

The Effects of Climatic Parameters on Vegetation Cover and Forage Production of Four Grass Species in Semi-steppe Rangelands in Mazandaran Province, Iran
The vegetation cover and rangeland production are the most important factors to determine the proper planning system for effective utilization and management of rangelands. In this research, the effect of climatic factors (temperature and rainfall) were studied on vegetation cover and forage production of four species (Festuca ovina, Bromus tomentellus, Dactylis glomerata and Agropyron trichoph...
full textModeling Production and Canopy Cover Parameters to identify the Most Effective Environmental Factors in Baghrou Semi-Steppe Rangelands of Ardabil Province, Iran
The aim of the study was to determine the most important environmental factors (topography, climate, and soil) affecting changes in production and canopy cover of plant variations and to prepare prediction maps, based on the most important factor, in semi-steppe rangelands of Hir-Baghrou, Ardabil province, Iran. First, by detecting the vegetation types and different classes of environmental fac...
full textinvestigation of vegetation dynamics in the semi-steppe rangelands of isfahan province (case study: doolat gharin of semirom)
the purpose of this study was to investigate vegetation dynamics and range conditions considering the climatic conditions and soil properties in doolat gharin in the south of isfahan province of an area equal to 25 square kilometer. for this purpose, after determining vegetation types and associated species, the type of rangeland utilization, grazing season, the type of livestock and other rele...

this research investigates the vegetation of 4600 ha of polour semi-steppe rangelands in relation to edaphic and physiographical parameters in mazandaran province. for this purpose, 23 land units were selected from overlaying slope, aspect and elevation maps using geographic information system (gis). within each unit, 3 parallel transects with 100 m length, each containing 10 quadrates (accordi...
full textEndozoochorous seed dispersal of plant species in semi-steppe rangelands
During last two decades studies on endozoochorous seed dispersal indicated that a large numbers of plant seeds are potentially dispersed and suceefully germinated via animal dung. However, very little is known about the relative importance of endozoochory in germination success of plant species in semi-steppe rangelands. In this paper we examined dung germinating seed content, seed deposition p...
